3 sets of crazy plastic pins
Have you heard of crazy plastic? This special sheet can be used to create a large drawing and then heated so that it shrinks and hardens to become a small jewellery or fashion accessory. Here I've created a trio of tea time brooches for your mum.

A frame made from iron-on beads with a floral motif
Image generated by AIHave fun creating a photo frame using iron-on beads.
You'll find lots of designs on the internet.
Arrange your beads on a grid (or even several grids together for a decent-sized frame) to form a frame. You can play with floral patterns, geometric patterns, or even letters to form the word MAMAN, for example...
Following the manufacturer's instructions, solder the beads together using an iron. Remove the frame from the mould. Position your photo in the frame and secure it using a cardboard strip attached to the back of the frame with double-sided adhesive tape.
A menu like an armful of flowers
Here's some paper art in A4 format for a poster or A5 format for a Mother's Day card.
In this tutorial, you can download the elements of the paper art to cut out carefully. Once you've made the flowers, compose your bouquet by slipping them into the arms of the illustration. A pretty armful of flowers that can easily travel by post and won't fade any time soon!

Good personalised bread
Unsplash / Jon TysonWhat could be more touching than bringing your mum breakfast in bed on Mother's Day with a homemade, personalised loaf of bread?
Make your own bread dough using the recipe of your choice. They are legion on the net. While the dough is resting, create a personalised stencil with a message for your mum, her first name, a heart or a design she loves.
Cut your stencil neatly out of a sheet of Rhodoid using a cutter. This will allow you to clean it and use it again later.
Shape your bread into a ball. Make a few incisions on the side to control the rise in the oven, but avoid making any on the top, where you will be placing your stencil. Place your stencil on the bread and dust with white flour using a fine sieve. Remove the stencil carefully to avoid damaging the design.
Preheat your oven and place in the oven, following the cooking instructions in your recipe.
To vary your designs, you can also test your stencil with cocoa, vegetable charcoal, sesame seeds...
A made-to-measure herbal tea
Unsplash / Max GrissGive your mum a gift that's as beneficial as it is beautiful by making her a made-to-measure herbal tea.
Nothing is easier than making your own herbal tea. There are many herbalists' shops where you can buy plants, herbs and flowers in bulk, following the seller's advice on dosage.
Get yourself a pretty glass jar, fill it with your mixture and finish off your gift by adding a nice label entitled "Mum's herbal tea" with the list of ingredients.
To make this herbal tea as beautiful as it is delicious, we recommend adding whole flowers to the composition. These will open into the cup when your mum pours the hot water over it.
If you opt for whole flowers, here is a non-exhaustive list of those you can choose from:
Soothing and relaxing flowers
- Chamomile: soothing, ideal for sleep
- Lavender: relaxing, perfect for relieving stress
- Linden: soothing, promotes relaxation
Digestive and refreshing flowers
- Cornflower: detoxifying, aids digestion
- Hibiscus: slightly acidic, rich in antioxidants
- Jasmine: delicately fragrant, invigorating
Gourmet and fragrant flowers
- Rose: floral and soft, good for the skin
- Violet: slightly sweet, ideal with mint
- Elder: fruity and floral, supports immunity
Tip: the flowers in herbal teas give off subtle, delicate aromas, so opt for a base composed of more neutral plants to accompany them, such as verbena, white tea, Rooibos or peppermint.

A card as a unique work of art!
Create an original card combining watercolour painting, embroidery and sequins.
No doubt your mum will frame this precious missive.
Decorate a small pot to give a pretty plant

Does your mum have a green thumb? You've decided to give her a rare plant cutting, a pretty plant... To personalise this gift, have fun decorating the pot with this plant.
For this creation, you will need :
- An earthen pot the size of the plant it will house
- A pencil
- Posca markers in the colours of your choice
- Matt spray varnish
Clean your pot thoroughly and leave it to dry. Using a pencil and without applying pressure, draw the designs of your choice on the pot: geometric, floral, polka dots, stripes, etc.
Use Posca markers to iron over these designs, combining colours, varying line thicknesses and colouring in certain areas.
Leave to dry and spray lightly on the outside of the pot to fix your design. Do not overload and protect the inside of the pot so that the soil and roots of your plant do not come into contact with the varnish.
Put your plant in a pot and give the gift of love!
A cake like a bouquet of flowers
Can't decide between flower bouquet and good cake?
Why not make a cake covered in flowers? There are plenty of edible flowers and you can even find their petals for sale in sachets now. Make a beautiful sponge cake covered in buttercream. Sprinkle the cream with edible flower petals for a result that's as tasty as it is beautiful. To complete your dessert, cut a top cake from gold foil and attach it to the cake using wooden skewers. You'll find pretty top cake designs on cutting plotters' software like the one from Cricut for example.

A heart in bloom

For a change from the traditional bouquet, create a heart-shaped floral arrangement.
To create this floral heart, you'll need:
- Florist's foam: a sheet measuring approximately 15 x 15 cm and 5 cm thick
- A cutter
- Flowers
- Fine florist's wire
- Cutting pliers
Using the cutter, cut out a heart shape from the florist's foam. There are also ready-made heart shapes.
Soak the foam in the water.
Cut off each flower, leaving a small amount of stem (2 or 3 cm).
Place the heart on a plate or in a shallow dish.
Plant each flower in the heart. For flowers whose stems are not stiff enough, double them up with small pieces of wire wrapped around the stem. Multiply the flowers to create a generous heart with tightly packed flowers and no holes to reveal the moss.
This arrangement will look great in the centre of any festive table.
An avalanche of hearts
How about decorating the festive table or breakfast tray with pretty paper heart garlands?
There are two techniques available:
- Using a template, cut out a series of hearts from rose-coloured paper. You can then join them together using a sewing machine.
- Fold a long sheet of paper into an accordion shape and cut out a heart shape from all the layers of the folded paper, leaving the edges attached. Unfold the accordion to create a garland of hearts.

A homemade candle

Make apretty scented candle with your mum's favourite fragrance. It's easy to make your own candles. Be careful though, as the main operation involves melting wax in a bain-marie, so it's not advisable to do this tutorial with young children, and even older ones, they need to be supervised during this stage.
You will need :
- A pretty, heat-resistant container (an old jam jar would be perfect, for example)
- Vegetable wax (soya), animal wax (beeswax) or mineral wax (paraffin)
- A wooden or cotton wick with a metal backing
- A bottle of the essential oil of your choice (note contraindications, not for use by pregnant women)
- A saucepan and a container for cooking in a bain-marie
- Dried flowers
Clean your container thoroughly and dry it.
Place the wick holder and the wick at the bottom of this container. If you are using a cotton wick, keep it straight by wrapping it around a stick placed across the edge of the container.
Heat the water in the pan and melt the wax in the container over a bain-marie. Once the wax has melted, add a few drops of essential oil to scent your candle (the oil should make up no more than 5-10% of the wax).
Pour the hot wax into the container, making sure that the wick remains straight. You can also remove the wick holder, pour a drop of wax into the bottom of the container and immediately replace the wick and its holder to fix them in place. Fill the candle with wax.
Before the wax has completely hardened, sprinkle the surface with a few dried flowers. Take care to keep the flowers away from the wick so they don't catch fire when lit.
Offer your candle with a pretty label stuck or hung around the jar.

A mini garden
Give your mum a whole garden to tell her you love her! All you need to do is assemble soil, moss and small plants in a jar or bottle: this is called a terrarium.
Thanks to the moss and plants chosen, this microcosm will feed itself by creating the necessary humidity in its jar.
Tuto: a flower around your neck!
A revolutionary resin technique has been around for some time. It's called UV resin. This dries in a few minutes on contact with ultra-violet light. No need to wait hours for the resin to set, with the risk of air bubbles and dust... Create your jewellery and other small accessories in just a few minutes.
In this tutorial, we invite you to create a pretty pendant with a dried flower inclusion.
