Step by step, we'll show you how to make a pretty macramé decoration!
The equipment
- Special macramé rope that can be split in two
- The cutting sheet template
- A support on which to fix your macramé so that it doesn't move while you're making it, and a suitable fastener (drawing pin, pliers, etc.).
- A pair of scissors
- A rule
- A comb
- Spray glue or fabric stiffener
- A metal or wooden circle between 25 and 35cm in diameter
- Pearls
Explanations
- To make 1 macramé sheet, you will need a long 40cm thread, 22 20cm threads and 12 15cm threads.
- Attach the long wire, folded in 2, to your support. Take a 20cm wire, fold it in 2 and pass the loop under the vertical wires. Fold a 2nd wire in 2 and pass it through as shown in photo 4. Tighten the resulting knot and push it upwards.
- Repeat these last 3 steps until the end of the threads, either by alerting the orientation of the 1st loop: once it comes from the left, once from the right; or by dragging the 1st loop always to the same side.

- Once you've made your sheet, paint the fringes on each side to split your cotton rope. Work gradually from the outside in.

- To stiffen your sheet, you can use a spray adhesive or a fabric stiffener, please refer to the instructions for your product.
- Apply the template to the sheet and using a pair of scissors, cut the threads that protrude from it.

- Now it's time for composition. To attach the leaves to the circle, you can take a piece of string about 20cm long, fold it in 2, pass the loop under the circle and bring the 2 ends of the string into the loop. You can thread wooden beads through too and finally, slip the 2 strands through the little loop at the top of the leaf and tie a knot at the back.
- Do not hesitate to vary the size of your leaves for a pretty composition.
